Because kids matter to God

Hi there. Thank you for your interest in the AWANA Ministry.

AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, taken from II Timothy 2:15.

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.”

Awana is a wonderful program which strives to teach Biblical truths and principles to children and young adults.  Awana helps equip young individuals with a Christian worldview, so that when they face life’s many challenges they can make sound and wise decisions based on what the Bible says.  Awana attendees learn what the Bible has to say about morality, the will of God, serving others, peer pressure, leadership, making wise decisions, and much more.  In addition to these topics, the Awana class for high school students focuses on important topics like evolution vs. creationism, non-Christian worldviews such as post-modernism and nihilism, tolerance, the Christian foundations of our country, sexual morality, and much more, all from a Christian perspective.  Awana also teaches students how to maintain their physical, emotional, and mental health and fitness by applying Biblical principles in their lives.  And Awana teaches students Biblical principles and lessons that help students prepare for and be successful in their future careers.

Bible-based and Christ-centered, Awana works! God uses this club program to reach youth and adults… to lead them toward Christ and to train them in Biblical truths so that they are equipped to have successful lives.

The AWANA Club night is divided into 4 segments: Flag Ceremony, Game Time, Council Time (where a Biblical truth is taught), and Handbook Time (where your child will recite memory verses to his/her leader).  Leaders work with the children and young adults, share the gospel with them, encourage them, and have fun doing it!

Through each school year, First Baptist Church of Maricopa sponsors the AWANA program on Wednesday evenings, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., for children 3 years old (must be 3 by September) through the 12th grade. Our 2009-2010 AWANA program is set to start on September 9, 2009 and will complete on May 19, 2010.
